Born in Ibadan, Nigeria

Hugo who is known for deep dramatic and flawless voice was born as Hugo Wallace Weaving at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria on the laps of Anne and Wallace Weaving. He is British as well as Australian. He is of white ethnicity.

1976

Moved back to Australia

Though he was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, he spends only the first year of his life there. He then moved to England with his parents and they settled in Bedford and Brighton. Few years later, they went to Melbourne and then to Johannesburg in South Africa. After spending some years in England again, he returned back to Australia in mid 1970s.

Graduated from National Institute of Dramatic Art

He received his formal education from The Downs School. After he returned back to Australia in 1976, he joined Knox Grammar School and continued his secondary education there. He then joined National Institute of Dramatic Art and he finally graduated from there.

As he was interested in acting since his childhood days, he played his first acting role in 1980 movie, ...Maybe This Time. Three years later, he appeared in the movie The City's Edge starring the role of Andy White.
