Elizabeth Vargas started dating Grammy Award-winning American musician Marc Cohn back on 11th September 1999, shortly after they met at the U.S. Open after Vargas completed interviewing one of Marc's friends, Andre Agassi.
They got engaged 2 years later in April 2002 followed by their marriage just 3 months later on 20th July 2002. The couple has two children, both boys, together. They had their first son Zachary Raphel on 31st January 2003 followed by their second son Samuel Wyatt on 16th August 2006. They are currently 14 and 11-years-old respectively.

While in a marital relationship with Marc, she suffered from severe alcoholism and already had been to a rehab based in Tennessee twice before.

However, her third time at rehab changed her life in the most difficult way possible. In 2014, she was all set to get back home from rehab. But she was unaware that her husband had already a lawyer for divorce and had started the process.
When she got back home, Marc was on tour. The couple was married for 12-years but the marriage ended in 2016 without her consensus.

During an interview, the journalist shared that the split was very hard for her and that she was barely able to control herself. However, at the moment, they have come to terms and are parenting their 2 sons perfectly. She shared that they loved their children and would be in each other's life despite their split.
