Jack was born as Jack Alexander in Cambusnethan, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom to Helen and Jimmy Alexander. He was raised in middle class family in Cambusnethan. He was Scottish and was of Scottish descent. He was of average height. 

1947

Began playing piano

As Jack's mother was also a music talent, he became interested in music since a young age. When he was just 11, he began playing piano. He used to perform with his brother and sister in church concerts and parties. 

1958

Formed The Alexander Brothers

During the mid 1950s, he worked in a painting and decorating company. In 1958, he came back from national service and then he formed The Alexander Brothers with his elder brother Tom. That year they took part in talent contest and they also won this contest winning a recording contract.

1966

Released their album, These Are My Mountains

They have been active in music since the mid 1950s. They became popular with the release of the single, Nobody's Child in 1964. Their album, These Are My Mountains was released two years later which also entered into the UK Albums Chart at no 29.

2005

Received Order of the British Empire

Jack Alexander was a singer and pianist from Scotland. He was mainly popular in the world as The Alexander Brothers. As a music duo, he was honored with Order of the British Empire in 2005.

At the end of his life, he was taken care by his second wife Lilian Welsh and his two lovely daughters from his first married life. His older brother Tom was also with him when he left this earth at the age of 77.
