1954

Born in Hong Kong

Jackie Chan was born on 7th of April 1954, in Hong Kong to Lee-Lee and Charles Chan who were refugees from the Chinese Civil war. 

1962

Film Debut

Jackie Chan made his debut in the film industry with “Big and Little Wong Tin Bar” as a child actor. At that time he was just eight years old. 

1971

Began to work as Stuntman

Chan began to work as a stuntman in the Bruce Lee movies “Fist of Fury” and “Enter the Dragon”, under the stage name Chan Yuen Lung. 

1976

Moved To Canberra

At his twenty-two, Chan moved to Canberra and joined his parents, where he briefly attended Dickson College and also worked as a construction worker. 

2012

Retired From Doing Stunt

Chan announced that he is retiring from action films, citing the reason as he is getting older. But he later explained that he would not completely leave starring in action movies, but will do fewer stunts and will take care of his body.

A native of Hong Kong, Jackie Chan was born on 7 April 1954, to Lee-Lee and Charles Chan who were refugees from the Chinese Civil war. As a student, he first joined the Nah-Hwa Primary School on Hong Kong Island. Later he enrolled at China Drama Academy, a Peaking Opera School which was run by Master Yu Jim-yuen.

After being trained in martial arts and acrobatics, he became part of Seven Little Fortunes, which is a group made up of the school’s students with the stage name “Yuen Lo."

Chan began his acting career with a small role at the tender age of five as a child actor. Further, he made his appearance in the movie, Big and Little Wong Tin Bar. During the 1960s, Chan made his appearance in almost five movies and then subsequently signed to Chu Mu’s Great Earth Film Company.                              

When Chan turned 17, he began to work as a stuntman in Bruce Lee's movies Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon with the stage name Chan Yuen Lung. Jackie Chan got his first starring role in Little Tiger of Canton.

Further, he starred in the nude sex scene in the comedic adult film All in the Family, the only movie he has started without a single fight scene or stunt. Another movie with scenes is Shinjuku Incident.

At the age of 22, he moved to Canberra and joined his parents, where he attended Dickson College and also worked as a construction worker. As his friend Jack took Chan under his wing, he earned the nickname Jackie which wedged with him ever since.
