She is the youngest child of the Jackson family and she was born as Janet Damita Jo Jackson in Gary, Indiana, United States of America to Katherine Esther and Joseph Walter Jackson. She is an American and is of African American and Native American ethnicity.

A young child with a dream to be a horse racing jockey or entertainment lawyer, began performing since she was 7. She was interested in entertainment since a young age. She played her debut acting role at the age of 10 in The Jacksons.

Released her first album, Janet Jackson

Though she began performing since a young age, she lost her interest in acting and became more interested in singing and then she signed a contract with A&M Records at the age of 16 and she finally released her debut album, Janet Jackson in 1982.

On 31st of March 1991, she got married for the second time in her life and that was with Rene Elizondo. Rene Elizondo is a dancer as well as songwriter. He is also popular for being the music video director.

After her second married life got dissolved on 31st of March 2000, she remained single for more than a decade. Though she was often linked with several artists it was not the official love. Recently in 2012, she got married with Wissam Al Mana.

She received her formal education from Portola Middle School in Tarza. However, she really had bad days there as she was teased and harassed often for her early fame. She then joined Valley Professional School and she graduated from there in 1984.
