Born on the laps of Eileen and Robert Oswald, Jani was born as John Kennedy Oswald in Akron, Ohio, United States of America. He was an American and was of white ethnicity. He was raise along with his four siblings.

Began playing drums in clubs

Jani interest in music was since he was child. His brother Eric was an inspiration to him as he was also an impressive guitar player. When Jani was just 6, he began playing drum and guitar and finally at the age of 11, he played drums in several clubs.

Graduated from Field High School

Jani got her primary education from Field High School. He was one of the best students in his class higher than the average student. He graduated from there in 1982. He got several scholarships to continue his higher education.

Joined the musical band, Cyren

Keen on music since he was child, Jani joined band Cyren as a drummer soon after graduating from Field High School. He performed several times on the opening of local band called Risque. Bassist, Al Collins was impressed by his talent and he pursued Jani to join them.

Joined Warrant

In 1983, after the formation of the band Plain Jane, he began serving them as a drummer. Plain Jane began performing in several clubs and they also performed with band called Warran. At the end of 1986, he finally joined Warran and began jamming with them.

Released their first album, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich

After joining American glam metal band, Warrant in 1986, several record labels were attracted towards them. Jani served them as the lead vocalist and they began recording their first album and they finally released it under the name, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich in 1989.

Left Warrant

After having the successful musical career with Warrant, Jani decided to leave them and began his solo career. He finally left them in March 1993 and began pursuing his solo career but he joined Warrent in September of the same year and later released several albums with them.
