Jason Butler Harner is an American actor best known for his appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Jason was born on October 9, 1970, in Elmira, New York, to father Freddy William Harner and mother Neena Butler, and was raised in suburban Northern Virginia.
Jason completed his graduation from T. C. Williams High School, Alexandria, Virginia, in 1988. When he turned 17, he worked as an usher at the Eisenhower Theater in Washington, D.C.
In 1992, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from (VCU) Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992.
He subsequently moved to NYC and joined Tisch School of the Arts where he received a Master of Fine Arts in the Graduate Acting Program in 1997.
Jason made his film debut in June 2000 with Trifling with Fate. In the film, he played Walter Skritcher, an artist who doesn't know his muse. In the same year, he made his television debut with Guiding Light, in which he portrayed Palace aide.
Jason rose to fame after playing Gordon Stewart Northcott, a mechanic accused of murder, in Changeling, in December 2007.
In 2002, Jason appeared on Law & Order which earned him a lot of appreciation. In the same year, he starred in Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Likewise, in 2006, Jason played his recurring role as Greg Hartley in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit that also stars Hollywood actors like Mariska Hargitay, & Michelle Hurd in the lead.
Besides his work in movies and television, Jason has also been honored with a few awards. In 2005, he received Obie Award for his performance in the controversial production of Hedda Gabler at New York Theatre Workshop.
