On the 14th of September 1954, Jerry got married to Anne Meara. Anne Meara was an actress and also a comedian. Besides being husband and wife, they also worked as the comedy team, Stiller and Meara. They also had romantic love affairs for several years before getting married in 1954. As a married couple, they have been parents twice. But on the 23rd of May 2015, she died of natural causes.
Soon with the completion of his high school graduation from Seward Park High School, Jerry joined Syracuse University. There he majored in Speech and Drama and he finally earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950. He has been active in acting since the early 1950s. In 1953, he along with other artists like Gene Saks and Jack Klugman appeared in the John Houseman's production, and this trio is now remembered as the best trio of Shakespearian clowns that had ever seen on any stage. After being married to Anne Meara, they formed the comedy duo Stiller and Meara and they received well acclaimed in the 1960s and 1970s.
