Early Life, Family & Education
Jill Hennessy was born on November 25, 1968, in Edmonton, Canada, to parents John Hennessy Salesperson and Maxine Hennessy.
Her father was a meat salesman and sales/marketing executive while her mother was a secretary who left the family in 1982. She was then raised by her grandmother, Eleanor Hennessy, in Kitchener, Ontario.
As for her siblings, Jill has a brother, John Paul Hennessy Jr., and an identical twin sister, Jacqueline Hennessy, who is a Canadian magazine writer and television show host.
Hennessy has Irish, French, Swedish and Italian ancestry on her father's side while Ukrainian Roma and Austrian ancestry on her mother's side. She is of Canadian nationality and belongs to white ethnicity.
Jill studied at Stanley Park Senior Public School and then attended Grand River Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, Ontario from where he graduated.
Career
Jill Hennessy and made her acting debut with her twin sister playing twin call girls in the thriller drama movie Dead Ringers in 1988.
She initially cast for the role of Dana Scully on The X-Files but it was later given to Gillian Anderson. She has also performed on Broadway in the musical The Buddy Holly Story in 1990.
In 1993, she was signed by Dick Wolf as assistant district attorney in the popular NBC crime drama series Law & Order. She appeared on the three seasons of the show until she left it in 1996.
Jill wrote, produced, and jointly directed (along with Elizabeth Holder) an independent film mockumentary, The Acting Class, in 2000.
She appeared in the films Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot, and Abby Singer in 2001 and 2003 respectively.
She portrayed the title character Jordan Cavanaugh on the television show Crossing Jordan from 2001 to 2007.
