Jimi who was also known for his Afro and thin mustache was born as Johnny Allen Hendrix in Seattle, Washington, United States of America to Lucille (Jeter) and James Allen Hendrix. He was an American and he was of African, American, Irish and Cherokee descent.

Found Ukulele in the garbage

While he was in Horace Mann Elementary School, Jimi began his interest in music and guitar. In 1957, while working alongside his father side-job, he found Ukulele but it had only one string. He took it and he began playing several notes in it.

1958

Bought his first acoustic guitar

When he was in Horace Mann Elementary School, he used to career a broom and used to play it dreaming it to be a guitar. This took an attention of one of his school's social worker. She wrote a letter to the school and also for his father but both of them denied to buy him one. He got his first guitar at the age of 15 and he bought it for $5.

Completed his studies at Washington Junior High School

He received his elementary education from Horace Mann Elementary School. After that he joined Washington Junior High School. He completed his junior High School from there in 1958 and then he joined Garfield High School.

Joined US Army

In 1961, he convicted a crime for riding in stolen cars. He was arrested for this crime and he was ordered to choose two options either to join army or to spend his days in jail. He joined an army instead of serving in the jail.

1963

Formed a band called the King Kasuals

At the end of 1962, he was discharged from army and a year later, he formed a band called the King Kasuals with fellow serviceman Billy Cox. Cox met him while Jimi was playing guitar at the army club.

Released their debut album, Are You Experienced

At the end of 1966, he formed the musical band The Jimi Hendrix Experience with his fellow mates Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. With its formation they began recording their debut album and they finally released their debut album, Are You Experienced on May 12th 1967.

Released their second album, Axis: Bold as Love

After their debut studio received well acclaimed all over the United States and United Kingdom they began working in their second album and they finally released it under the title, Axis: Bold as Love at the end of 1967.

One day before he died on 18th of September 1970, he was in London. That day, he spends much of this time with figure skater and painter, Monika Dannemann. At around 11 am, she found him unconscious and unresponsive and she took him to hospital but he was pronounced death at 12:45 pm.
