Joe Arpaio was born on June 14, 1932, in Springfield, Massachusetts, the United States of America to Nicola Arpaio. He is an American and is of Italian descent. His mother died at the time of his birth, after which he grew up under the care of his father.
As a high school student, he assisted his father at his Italian grocery store. However, shortly after, at the age of 18, he got enlisted in the United States Army. In the army, he served from 1950 to 1954 in the Medical Department.
