Blueprince Thu Apr, 2019

WWE star and pro-wrestler John Cena is in talks with Warner Bros. studios for a role in the Suicide Squad sequel which is set to be released in 2020.

Sources informed Variety that John is in talks to join the squad of Idris Elba and Margot Robbie in Warner Bros.’ next edition of 2016’s Suicide Squad.

Margot is reprising her role as Harley Quinn and actor Jai Courtney is back as Captain Boomerang

According to Variety, the studio is having Elba play a brand-new character instead of taking on Deadshot, a character played by Will Smith in the first edition of the film.

It’s currently unknown as to what characters Cena and Elba will be portraying.

Warner Bros. had no comment to make in the matter.

Director James Gunn will write and direct the movie, which is expected to go into production soon.

The Suicide Squad 2 hits theaters on August 6, 2021.

Suicide Squad, featuring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and singer Jared Leto was a huge box office success in 2016 and grossed $746.8 million worldwide.

The film will mark Cena’s first comic-book role.

Cena made his way into acting after years as one of the top WWE stars. Cena’s most recent big-screen roles include Universal studios' Blockers, featuring Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz.

He also acted in the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee alongside Hailee Steinfeld.

John Cena will also voice a character in Universal’s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, starring actor Robert Downey Jr., and singer Selena Gomez.
