John Mahoney, the Frasier star, has died on Sunday, February 4. He was 77. The beloved TV dad reportedly passed away in hospice care in Chicago, according to John's publicist.
John appeared as Kelsey Grammer’s father, Martin Crane, on Frasier for eleven seasons from 1993 to 2004. He was nominated for two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes for his role. He won the Screen Actor’s Guild award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2000 along with the cast of Frasier.
John gave his other notable roles in films like Flipped, American President, Eight Men Out, Barton Fink, Say Anything and Moonstruck.
Most recently, Mr. John had a multi-episode appearance in Hot in Cleveland. The last episode of the series was aired in 2014. John also starred in the television sitcom Foyle’s West in 2015.
