A graduate of the University of Southern California, Julie Chen is a television personality and a news anchor from the United States. At the age of 48 years, she has become a well-known TV producer and widely popular as the host of the reality TV show, Big Brother.

Julie, who is nicknamed Chenbot, was born as Julie Suzanne Chen on January 6, 1970, in Queens, New York City, US, to parents father David Y. Chen, and mother Wang Ling Chen. She is an American but is of the Burmese Chinese descent.

Julie Chen's grandfather, Lou Gaw Tong, was a poor man but through a chain of grocery stores became wealthy. With wealth, he also became a polygamist and had nine wives with 11 children. Julie has elder sisters Gladys and Victoria.
The 48 years' old received her elementary education at the Junior High School in the Whitestone area of Queens. She later joined the St. Francis Preparatory School and then graduated from there in 1987. She also holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Univesity of Southern California. Furthermore, she also graduated in 1991, at age 21, the same year with a major in English.
Julie Chen's journalism career
In 1990, she worked as an intern at the CBS Morning Show alongside Andy Cohen. During that internship, she just answered phones and copied faxes for distribution. In 1991, she joined the ABC NewsOne for one season. She worked as a desk assistant during her time there.

Later, she was promoted to work as a producer for three years after which she joined the WDTN-TV in 1995 and served there as a news anchor till 1997.
Before joining the CBS again, she was a reporter and weekend anchor for the WCBS-TV in New York.
In 1999, Chen got back to what she started from but at a much higher level. She was the anchor of the CBS Morning Show and also CBS This Morning alongside Bryant Gumbel, Jane Clayson, Hanna Storm, Maggie Rodriguez, Erica Hill, and Rene Syler.
In 2002, she was a co-host of the CBS show, The Early Show until 2010, until the show itself was canceled. Later, she started appearing on the CBS Daytime Talk show The Talk. The show premiered on October 18, 2010.
The show currently features Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, and Sheryl Underwood.
The lady has also been a regular host for the American version of the reality TV show Big Brother. The first season of the show was full of criticism for her as the audience thought that the lady's delivery was highly scripted. This earned her the nickname, Chenbot.
Recently, Julie talked about a secondary show, a spinoff of Big Brother on CBS. The spinoff was proposed to showcase the way of operation of the Jury House but, due to cost difficulties, the show has not yet been on-air. According to Chenbot, the show would come out one day.

The lovely lady has been nominated in the Daytime Emmy Awards for a total of five times. But, luck has not been with her as she has only won once. It was in 2017 that she won the Daytime Emmy Awards. She received the award for the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host category for her show, The Talk alongside her other co-hosts.

In September 1991, while Julie Chen was working as a news assistant for the ABC News, she fell in love with her former boyfriend, Gary Donahue. Her former longtime partner is a television news editor.
The pair dated each other for several years before they broke up amicably.
With the start of 2000, Julie began having romantic love affairs with Leslie Moonves. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the CBS Television.
At that time, he was still in a married relationship with his wife Nancy Wiesenfeld Moonves. On April 22, 2003, Nancy filed for divorce in LA citing irreconcilable differences.
However, the divorce was not finalized until 10th of December 2004. Turning their romantic dating boyfriend-girlfriend relationship into a marital bond, the couple, Leslie and Julie, walked down the aisle on December 23, 2004, at age 34, in a private ceremony in Acapulco, Mexico.
