The gorgeous Katharine McPhee is an American actress, singer, songwriter, and model. The runner-up on the fifth season of American Idol is also known for her work in The House Bunny and Shark Night 3D.
She was born in Loss Angeles, California, the United States on March 25, 1984, to her father, Daniel McPhee a television producer, and her mother, Peisha McPhee, who has been a vocal coach on American Idol since 2011. McPhee’s elder sister Adriana has also been a vocal coach on American Idol since 2012.
McPhee attended Notre Dame High School and there she used to perform in school plays and musicals a graduated in 2002. She attended Boston Conservatory majoring in Musical Theatre but she left college before graduation to try for television pilots. And after she dropped college, she auditioned in Los Angeles and was cast in a mall-based MTV soap opera pilot, You Are Here, but MTV never aired the pilot and did not pick up the series.
McPhee never gave up the hope and continued acting and in March 2005, she starred in a Los Angeles-based production of the musical Annie Get Your Gun as Annie Oakley. For the role, she was nominated for a Los Angeles Stage Ovation Award in the category of "Lead Actress in a Musical".
Later in 2005, by the support of her husband (now divorced) Nick Cokas and family, she gave an audition in American idol and she gained fame from the show. After that, she sang various songs and rose in television as a multi-talented lady. Her albums include Over It, Unbroken, Had It All, etc. Also, her acting credits include The House Bunny, the Shark night 3D, Community, Smash, Family Guy, etc.
She has worked with actors like Anna Faris, Colin Hanks, Emma Stone, and many others, though her interest was to get married to a non-actor.
