Kathryn Harrold was born on the 2nd of August, 1950, in Tazewell, Virginia to B.H. and Carolyn Harrold. She is of American nationality and her ethnicity is white.
She completed her high school at Tazewell High School. Harrold also attended Millis College, which is located in Oakland, California, and graduated majoring in drama.

Kathryn Harrold started her acting career in the 1970s. In the 1980s, she played in the movie ‘The Hunter,' which also featured Chris Pratt and Willem Dafoe, being Steve McQueen’s leading lady on the screen.
In 1979, she appeared in Nightwing. Again after two years, she starred in The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper. She has also played in the horror film The Sender in 1982. In the same year, she co-starred with Luciano Pavarotti in Yes, Giorgio.
Apart from movies, Kathryn Harrold has been in television series as well. She played on the NBC daytime soap opera The Doctors as Nola Dancy Aldrich from 1975 – 1977. But after a certain time, she left the show, and Kathleen Turner played as her replacement.
Again from 1978–1979, she played in several episodes of The Rockford Files, being a blind psychiatrist. Later in the 1980s, she played lead roles in other short-lived dramas like MacGruder and Loud (1985) and ‘The Bronx Zoo’ (1987 – 1988).
