For Alan, Katie was not just a wife but someone who was able to return happiness back to his life. In an interview he gave to the Daily Mail, he said:

I got into doing comedy for the applause and the attention but it wasn't working for me. I'd been very unhappy for years.

The couple is also proud parents of two children. They welcomed their first child, a daughter, Susie, on December 9, 2009. 2 years later, the couple got blessed with their son, Robert on June 18, 2011.

But even after these years, neither of the couples has shared the photo of their children. Maybe they want to keep their children away from the media. Additionally, it has been reported that Alan prohibits his children to watch TV, just like X-men actor Hugh Jackman.

 Prior to Katie, Alan was in a relationship with Julia Sawalha. The relationship was reported to have ended in 2003 and the former couple has not seen together since then. The reason for the couple's separation is yet to be disclosed.
