One of the greatest Greek actresses of the 20th century, Katina Paxinou was born as Ekaterini Konstantopoulou at the end of 1900 in Piraeus, Athens, Greece to Basil Konstantopoulou. As a child, she was active as an opera singer.

1917

Married to Ioannis Paxinos

In 1917, Katina tied her married knot for the first time in her life and that was with Ioannis Paxinos. They were bonded into this married life for about half a decade and they also welcomed two lovely children from this married life. They dissolved their relation of loving husband and wife in 1923.

1920

Made her debut at Municipal Theatre of Piraeus

Though Katina received support and care from her parents for being an opera singer, she was disallowed to begin her acting career. But despite their denial, she made her acting debut in 1920 at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus. She appeared in Maurice Maeterlinck's Sister Beatrice.
