In 1917, Katina tied her married knot for the first time in her life and that was with Ioannis Paxinos. They were bonded into this married life for about half a decade and they also welcomed two lovely children from this married life. They dissolved their relation of loving husband and wife in 1923.
After Katina got divorced with her first husband, she lived a single life for several years. Later on she became close with a Greek actor and director Alexis Minotis. Together they also starred in several plays in National (Royal) Theatre. They got married in 1940. Her nationality was Greek and her ethnicity was Greeks.
Though Katina received support and care from her parents for being an opera singer, she was disallowed to begin her acting career. But despite their denial, she made her acting debut in 1920 at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus. She appeared in Maurice Maeterlinck's Sister Beatrice. In 1928, she was seen in her first play The Naked Woman. In the early 1930, she was seen in the play Desire Under the Elms. From that time on she began working with love of her life Alexis Minotis. She also worked at National Theatre of Greece for several years. She made her feature film debut in 1943 by starring the role of Pilar in an American war film For Whom the Bell Tolls. For this role she was honored with Academy Awards, USA and Golden Globes, USA and she also became a first non-American actress to win an Oscar in her debut feature film. Later on she appeared in the movies like Hostages, Mourning Becomes Electra, Confidential Agent, Rocco e i suoi Fratelli and so on. Her net worth was unknown.
In the early 1973 news about her shocked the acting world. She died of cancer at the age of 72. She died on 22nd of February 1973 and her funeral was held at First Cemetery of Athens.
