Kelly Gough was born on 23 April 1987. She was born in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland and was raised along with other ten siblings in Ireland. She is the tenth child in the family. Kelly is also a twin and has a sister who was born after her.
Kelly grew up in Ireland and went to school there. She was raised in a very big family where there were eleven siblings. Being the youngest children, her twin Ciara and she must have grown up in a loving environment. Her father was an electrician - later a fisheries expert.
Kelly tells that she was always motivated to be an actor and there were no other ways than that. She has been heard saying, ‘I have never wanted to do anything else. I’ve done other things, but I’ve never wanted to.’
She finished her school relatively young and then applied for an actor-training programme in Trinity, Dublin. She was promptly accepted for the program and graduated in the year of 2007. She says that she had always 'felt' like an actor and training re-wired her brain to get her ‘thinking’ like an actor.
Her twin sister is named Ciara Gough who is a pharmacist and works in her home country. Ciara is usually mistaken for her twin sister.
Motivated by her actor-training program, Kelly then took her free-spirited steps into the entertainment business. Kelly was not alone in this pursuit as her elder and beautiful sister Denise Gough was already making names in the industry. Her talent was also looked after and compared to her elder sister Denise.
Kelly's first role was the Yew Tree Theatre production of Falling out of Love. She has also appeared in many theatre productions including Big Love for the Abbey Theatre, The Playboy of the Western World for the Druid Theatre Company, All in the Timing for Inis Theatre, and Extremities for Spark to Flame. She also has played a part of Poshoria in the football musical Macbecks, based on the story of David and Victoria Beckham.
Her first prominent recognition in the media came from her role in the Irish television series Raw that aired from 2008 to 2013. Kelly during that period also acted in various movies. She was seen in the movie Strike Back early in 2010.
After the ending of Raw, she joined into another television series that aired for three years from 2013 to 2016. She was one of the protagonists in the thriller series The Kill. Kelly who usually has acting experiences in mystery and thriller series and movies later went on to act in similar movies like Kill Command and Out of Innocence, that both premiered in 2016.
