Sutherland began his career from Max Dugan Returns, one of the comedy movie where he has shared the screen with his father. Sutherland was also one of the characters of the Glen Lantz which was produced by Johnny Depp.
After being popular in media, Sutherland featured in his first Hollywood movie, Stand by Me which was directed by Rob Reiner.
In 2000, Sutherland starred in the black comedy alongside Woody Allen but the film became flop by both commercial audiences and by critics. Following in the same year he appeared in Beat which was loved by many people and led him to fame.
