In July 1977, Laura met love of her life George W. Bush while she attended the backyard barbecue party. George W. Bush fell in love with her and proposed her in September and they finally got married on 5th of November. At the end of 1981, she gave birth to a twin daughters being the only First Lady to have given birth to twins. They are still together.
Laura was interested in reading since she was a child. As her love in education grew with her age, she joined James Bowie Elementary School and San Jacinto Junior High School. Few years later, she got enrolled at Robert E. Lee High School and she graduated from there in 1964. She joined Southern Methodist University with a major in education and she also graduated from there in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She began her career as a second grade school teacher. She also served as a school teacher at John F. Kennedy Elementary School. She also worked as a librarian. She became the First Lady of Texas in 1995 and First Lady of the United States in 2001.
