Les who was born in a middle-class family is a third-generation pawnbroker, as his father and grandfather were in the same occupation. He remembers he made his first sale when he was 7 years old, in his father’s shop located house in Michigan Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 12, he started to make money by reselling pizza to the students of a nearby Hebrew School.
