The Youngest Nobel Peace Prize receiver, Malala Yousafzai is a female educational activist from Pakistan. She is renowned for human rights advocacy, especially for women and education. She raised her voice against the Taliban in Pakistan and demanded the girl’s education. She was shot in the head in 2012 by a Taliban member but survived.
Malala Yousafzai Early Life, Family Details
Malala Yousafzai was born in Swat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan to Tor Pekai Yousafzai and Ziauddin Yousafzai. She has two younger brothers; Atal Yousafzai and Khushal Yousafzai. She belongs to the Pashtun ethnicity.
Malala's father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, who himself is an educational activist, poet, and school owner, motivated her to be a politician.
Activism & Taliban Attack
Malala started raising her voice about education rights in Peshawar's local club in September 2008 asking whole audiences "How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?”
She then started writing as a BBC Blogger about Taliban Influence over her place and girls banned from school. In 2011, she won Pakistan’s National Youth Peace Prize and was also nominated for International Children's Peace Prize.
Due to her activity against the Taliban, the Taliban threatened her to her death. It was October 9, 2012, on the way to home from school, the Taliban bordered the bus and the gunman shot Malala on her left head. But she survived successfully. She attended Khushal Public School in 2012.
She is now getting her higher education from Edgbaston High School in Birmingham, England. She has also written a book named I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, which was released in October 2013 she grew up in Sunni Muslim religion.
