In 2003, Malin was the member of the band The Petalstones where she served them as their lead singer. An Italian musician, Roberto Zincone was the drummer of this band. After being together for several years, this friendship turned into a relationship as they began dating each other. They had romantic love affairs for about four years and then on 20th of June 2007, they got married. Their wedding ceremony was held at Grand Hotel Moon Valley. In the early 2013, she gave birth to their first child together Sebastian Zincone but they announced their separation at the end of 2013. They finally got divorced in December 2013.

At the age of 2, Malin moved to Canada with her parents. Her parents dissolved their married life when she was aged six years old. She was enrolled at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She began her modeling career with the help of her mother. She also appeared in various advertising campaign and ads as a model. Though she lost her interest in modeling when she was aged 12, she became fascinated in modeling after she was spotted by Ford Models. She was offered a contract with skincare company Noxzema. Besides modeling, she also pursued her higher education at York University for about a year. She has also been active as an actress since the late 1990s. She played the role of Avatar in a Canadian science fiction television series Earth: Final Conflict in 1997. Later on she appeared in several TV ads and commercials and then in 2000, she starred in TV series like The Others and Relic Hunter. She also appeared in her first movie in 2000 and that was in an American psychological thriller film The Skulls. Till date she has appeared in about one dozen of movies.
