As a beginning of his career, Mark Orchard played for junior clubs, YCWCYC and St. Patricks College in his hometown. Later he was selected to a football club of his town, where he made his breakthrough and got a chance to played for famous Australian club, Collingwood. With Collingwood, Mark has appeared six times in each of his first two seasons.
As a footballer, Mark also played for Sydney F.C., as a midfielder for around two years, from where he received name, fame, and medals. Orchard played 41 games for Sydney and made about 6 goals. Later in 1999, Mark returned to Collingwood Club where he played 33 games with 15 goals. In 2001, Mark retired from football and worked on a horse farm in his hometown, Ballarat.
