After completing his engineering degree, Marty Lagina started his career as a petroleum engineer at Amoco Production Company. Later, he moved from Amoco and started working in the same field at Various Michigan corporations.
Soon after that, he joined Terra Energy Ltd and started working in the field of oil and gas exploration as well as production. The company was a pioneer in extracting natural gas shale. Terra Energy was sold to CMS Energy in 1995 while the company was still the largest operator of gas wells in the U.S. state of Michigan.
Marty is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the State Bar of Michigan. However, he did not become famous for working in the disciplines of his expertise. Rather, Lagina gained a huge success after working on the TV reality show The Curse of Oak Island, which is broadcast on the History channel, alongside his sibling Rick Lagina.
Apart from that, Marty has also started a new company called Heritage Sustainable. The company reportedly plans to build 60 wind turbines in Missaukee, Michigan.
Moving towards his personal life, Marty is married to his wife Olivia Lagina. The couple has two children, a son named Alex Lagina and a daughter, Maddie Lagina. There was once a rumor that Marty was on the verge of divorcing his wife. The rumors, however, have proved to be false.
Marty's claim to fame, along with that of his brother Rick, rests on the reality TV show The Curse of Oak Island. The show not only made him famous but also pretty rich. Many believe that while Rick's net worth is around $2 million, Marty's net worth could be more than that.
On August 2, 2016, it was revealed that their show would be receiving funding worth $1,271,546 for the production of the 4th season from Nova Scotia Business Inc. However, this excludes the money that production company Prometheus, which is behind the reality TV show The Curse of Oak Island, pays them. However, it is believed that the company pours in $8 million to $10 million per season to cover all costs, including the salaries of the Lagina brothers.
