Born on 1929

He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A as a Michael King Jr. He was born to father Michael King Sr and mother Alberta William King. He became famous for his Civil Rights Moment. 

1948

Graduated in 1948

He was graduated in sociology degree from the Morehouse College in 1948. The Morehouse  College is a distinguished Negro institution of Atlanta. It was the same college from where both his father and grandfather had graduated.

1955

Doctorate in 1955

 He received his Doctor of Philosophy on June 5, 1955, from Boston University.  He studied doctoral in systematic theology.  he attended college skipping the 9th and 12th grade and entered Morehouse  College at the age of Fifteen. 

1953

Got married 1953

He met a Coretta Scott in Boston and got marreid  with her on June 18, 1953. He got married in Heiberger, Alabama.  He has four children : King ,YoKing,Martin Luther  King III, Dexter Scott King and Bernice King.

1954

Became pastor in 1954

He became a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama in 1954.  Before then this, he was already a member of the executive committee of the national association for the Advancement of Colored People.

1959

Met Gandhi in 1959

 He traveled to India in 1959  in order to meet Mahatma Gandhi's palace. His trip and meeting with Gandhi had a huge impact on him . he became more committed to non-violence after he met Gandhi.

1961

Arrested in 1961

 He was arrested by American police for running Albany Movement on Alabama, Georgia in November 1961.  After then he was arrested for numbers of time for carrying out different movement. But he did not stop his movement.

1963

Historic Speech on 1963

He made his famous speech “I Have a Dream “ in front of 20,000 people in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial.  This historic speech was made on August 28, 1963. The speech was emphasized on his belief that someday all men could be brothers.

1964

Received Nobel Peace Prize for 1964

He  received the Nobel Peace Prize on October 14, 1964, for his contribution made for outlawing discrimination in publicly owned facilities. He was awarded for combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance. After then he was awarded different prizes.

1968

Assassinated on 1968

 He was assassinated on April 4, 1968. he was at the age of 39 at the time. he was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S. he was shot by at the evening while he was on the balcony at the ALorrraine Motel in Memphis.

Content

Growing up in Atlanta, he doctorate in Philosophy and started leading the mass from his college life. After being humiliated and much affected by the racial segregation, he felt himself a need to carry out the protest against the bias law in America. For this, he met  Mahatma Gandhi and committed to non-violence approach. He was arrested and kept in Birmingham Jail but he eloquently spelled out for  Nonviolence campaign.

After being released from the jail, he delivered an iconic speech “I Had a Dream” at the massive demonstration composed of multiple organization held in the capital city, Washington DC. His skillful rhetoric put a new energy into the civil rights struggle in America and finally got a victory on it.

As he spends most of his time struggling for the welfare of African –Ameican people. He got no time to be engaged in a relationship and affairs with different girls. He got married to Coretta Scot,  in Heiberger, Alabama and has four children: Yolanda Denise King, Martin Luther King III, Dexter Scott King, and Bernice Albertine King with her.

King's 1964 Nobel Peace Price is estimated worth $5 million - $10 million.

As an activist, King is well known among many people around the globe. For his honor, United States has established an annual holiday and named it Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
