Max Keeping was born as Winston Maxwell Keeping in Grand Bank, Newfoundland, Canada to Polly Keeping and Heber Keeping. He spent most of his days in Canada. He was Canadian and was of white ethnicity.

1958

Worked at St John's Evening Telegram

Max was active in broadcasting since the late 1950s. When he was just 16, he worked at St. John's Evening Telegram as a sports director. During the early 1960s, he joined VOCM and CJCH in Halifax.

1965

Worked at CFRA radio

In 1965, he joined CFRA radio as a parliamentary reporter. He also worked at CTV News as a reporter for several years.  In 1972, he ran in an election as a Progressive Conservative but he lost this election to Don Jamieson.

1972

Worked at CJOH

After he was defeated in the October federal election, he was unable to find the job at CTV News. In November 1972, he became associated with CJOH and there he worked as the local news director. He also worked as the station's news anchor for several decades. 

2003

Won Gemini Humanitarian Award

He was active in several charitable works throughout his life. It is also said that he collected more than $100 million dollars in a charity. For this selfless held and work, he was honored with Gemini Humanitarian Award in 2003.

Won Order of Canada

Max had won several awards and honors in his life. He was also in the side of receiving of several rewards. In 1991, he was honored with Order of Canada. Besides Order of Canada, he had also received Order of Ontario in 2007.

Max Keeping was a well known Canadian broadcaster, newscaster and an actor. He also served as the vice-president of news and public affairs at CJOH-DT. At the end of 2009, he revealed that he will retire as a news anchor within a year.

Died of cancer

 In 2003, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and with an untreatable cancer in 2014. He also underwent a colorectal cancer treatment in 2012. A section of CHEO helped him in his treatment. He died of cancer on 1st of October 2015.
