On the 26th of November 1953, Mel got married to Florence Baum. Sweet and lovely couple, Mel and Baum welcomed their first child together in 1956, and their first son Nicky Brooks was born at the end of 1957. Though they were happily married, this married life came to an end on the 20th of January 1962.
In 1962, when Mel was still married to Baum, he met the love of his life, Anne Bancroft. They met for the first time on the set of Perry Como. Anne was an actress from the United States. After being in love for several years, they got married on the 5th of August 1964. They welcomed their only child, Max Brooks in 1972. They were together until her death.
Mel lost his father to kidney disease when he was just 2 years old. A lonely and tragic boy, Mel was often bullied by his classmates.
