A native of Dallas, Texas, Melissa Rycroft was born on 11th of March 1983. Since her early age, Rycroft had interests in dancing. She enrolled at "Newman Smith High School" in California, Texas where she served as the first lieutenant for drill team.
Later she attended the "University of North Texas," where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega. In 2005, she graduated with a degree in Marketing and Finance.

As a dancer, Rycroft first competed in the eighth season of “Dancing with the Star," where she was a partner with Tony Dovolani, in the show they reached the third position. She again participated along with Dovolani in the “All-Stars” season 15, and they won the show. Later she worked as the host of 2015 Dancing with the Stars Live tour.
Her love life went through several ups and down before she tied the knot with her boyfriend, Tye Strickland. They together have a daughter, Ava Grace and sons, Beckett Thomas, and Cayson Jack. She was previously in a love affair with a guy whom she met in school, but their relationship ended while the pair was in college.
