A native of Brooklyn, New York, Michael Jai White was born on the 10th of November 1967, as Michael Richard Jai White. By nationality, White is an American and he belongs to African-American ethnicity. At his teen, he relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he completed his high school-level education from Central High School.
White is a talented martial artist, having started his Jujutsu training at the age of seven before moving to Shotokan and other styles later. He holds black belts in 7 different styles: Kyokushin, Wushu, Tang Soo Do, Goju Ryu, Kobudo, Taekwondo, and Shotokan.
At the age of twenty-two, White made his debut in the entertainment industry, portraying the character of Apocalypse Inc. Executive in The Toxic Avengers Part II. He subsequently played the same role in the third part of the same year.
Michael's first major starring role was as the heavyweight-boxing legend Mike Tyson in the HBO film Tyson. Further, his role in the movie Spawn earned him a nomination for the Blockbuster Entertainment Award in Best Male Newcomer.

Moving into his private life, Michael Jai White is a happily married man. He tied the wedding knot with his longtime girlfriend, actress Gillian Iliana Waters after being engaged for almost a year.
