Michael Nesmith was born in the year of 1942, on December 30, in Texas. His birth name was Robert Michel Nesmith.He is a rock star of the 1960s. He is a member of the pop rock band The Monkees.

1949

Joined school in 1949

He  joined a school in the year of 1949. He enrolled the Dallas public school at  the age of six. After then he studied at Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas but didn’t complete his higher education.

1960

Enlisted in the Air Force in 1960

Without graduating from high school, he was enlisted in the United States Air Force in the year of 1960. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and was trained as an aircraft mechanic. 

1963

Married Phyllis in 1966

He married Phyllis Ann Barbor in the year of 1963. It was his first marriage. He then moved to Los Angeles with his wife to pursue his songwriting and singing career. He later got separated with her.

1966

Joined the band in 1966

He joined the band The Monkees in 1966. This made made-up band soon developed a real following. He used to appear in a wool hat which is still his identification. The band was actually created for the television show.   

1981

Won Grammy Award in 1981

He won the first Grammy Award in the year 1981. The award was given for Video of the year for his hour-long television show, Elephant Parts. Grammy Award is regarded as a great award in the music industry.

1995

Reunited with The Monkees in 1995

In the year of 1995, he was reunited with The Monkees to record their studio album, entitled Justus.The album was released a year later after their recording. To support the reunion, the team toured the UK in 1997.

1998

Published first novel in 1998

He published his first novel, The Long Sandy Hair Of Neftoon Zamora, in the year of 1998. It was developed originally as an online project and was later published as a hard cook by St. Martin’s press. He published his second novel in 2009.

Nesmith studied at the Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas but did not complete his graduated. At the age of 15, he used to write and recite verse poetry in his college program. He holds American nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. 

Michael has altogether three marriage relationship. He was married to Phyllis for the first time and the couple divorced within the year of their marriage. He married Kathryn Bild for the second time. Following the ending of his second marriage, he met Vitoria Kennedy and married her in California. As Kennedy filed for divorce, he separated with her as well.

He has estimated net worth of $50 million which he earned from his musical career and also from his lucrative business.
