2000

Began playing golf

As her mother was also the women's amateur golf champion, she became interested in golf at a young age. Michelle has been playing in golf championship since she was ten. In 2000, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.

2001

Won Hawaii State Women's Stroke Play Championship

She had a successful career as an amateur player. Within a year after she began playing in the championships, she became the champion of Hawaii State Women's Stroke Play Championship. She also won Jennie K. Wilson Women's Invitational in 2001.

2003

Won Women's Amateur Public Links tournament

2003 was a successful year for her as an amateur player. She won Women's Amateur Public Links tournament. She also made the record being the youngest person to claim USGA adult event. She also made an LPGA cut in 2003. 

2005

Turned professional

Won US Women's Open

On 22nd of June 2014, she became the champion of U.S. Women's Open and that was her first major win. She has also won LPGA Tour for four times. She also won her fourth LPGA Tour event that day. In 2014, she was honored with Rolex Annika Major Award.
