Michelle has been playing golf championship since she was ten. In 2000, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship. In 2001, she became the champion of Hawaii State Women's Stroke Play Championship. She completed her high school graduation from Punahou School and then she joined Stanford University. She joined them as their undergraduate student but was unable to play for Stanford's golf team. She turned professional in 2005 but was ineligible to play in the LPGA Tour because of the age limit. However, she appeared in limited LPGA Tour events. At the end of 2008, she passed the LPGA Qualifying School and she played her first tour as a LPGA member at SBS Open at Turtle Bay.
