Mickie was born on August 31, 1979, in Richmond, Virginia, the United States as the daughter of Stuart James and Sandra Knuckles. Her father is a retired wastewater-treatment worker whereas her mother was a teacher and real-estate agent. Her parents got divorced when she was very young. She has six siblings including her three stepbrothers. She attended Patrick Henry High School where she graduated in 1997.
Mickie started her career on the independent circuit in 1999 as a valet for KYDA Pro Wrestling. She played her first match against American Mike Brown and Candie in an intergender tag team match together with Jake Damian. In 2003, she signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. She also joined Ohio Valley Wrestling.
During her tenure with WWE, Mickie has won WWE Women’s Championship title for 5 times and conquered her only one Divas Championship title in 2010. In 2010, she got released by WWE and soon she returned to TNT. On her second spell with TNT, she won 3 TNA Knockouts Championship titles and TNA World Cup 2013 with team USA.
Besides singing and wrestling, Mickie has also interest in horse riding from an early age. She has 3 horses named Bunny, Casanova and Rhapsody and two dogs. Moreover, she is also a winner of Native American Music Awards (NAMA).
Mickie is an American by nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. She is a married woman. In 2007, she was engaged to her boyfriend Kenny Dykstra, a fellow wrestler. However, the couple has not shared any further information about her relationship with him.
On September 25, 2014, Mickie welcomed a baby boy named Donovan Patrick Aldis with her partner Nick Aldis. The couple got engaged in December 2014 and married on December 31, 2015. She has maintained a perfect relationship with her husband.
