A professional figure skater, best known for an amazing triple jump combination and triple axel, Midori Ito was born on August 13, 1969, in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. She was always interested in being a skater since her childhood.  

1981

Won Free Skating

Midori Ito made first ice skating appearance in the year 1981 World Junior Championship where she became 20th but won a free skating title by her triple loop, triple salchow, and triple toe loop combinations.     

1989

Won the World Championships

In the year 1989, Midori Ito won a World figure skating championship where she was the first woman to achieve the title in the sport for an Asian competitor. Similarly, at the same year, she also made history again in NHK trophy competition.  

1992

Won the Olympic Silver Medal

During the year of 1992 Winter Olympics games, Midori performed triple axel and led her country to win a silver medal. Besides, Midori Ito has also inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.     

2004

Married to Masaru Yamaki

Midori Ito tied a knot with Masaru Yamaki when she was at the age of 35. The couple was dating each other for several months before getting married. They officially got married in 2004 and none of their family members was against this marriage.         

2006

Divorce with Masaru Yamaki

Midori Ito and his husband Masaru Yamaki had been living a happy married life but after two years of their marriage, their relationship started turning sour. Eventually, the couple decided to be separate with each other and later finalized their divorce in 2006.

Midori Ito began skating while she was just five years old. During that time, her parents used to take Midori to Ice rink at Osumo, where she noticed a retired professional coach, Machiko Yamada and started training with her. However, her childhood was full of difficulties as her parents got divorced when she was just 10. Since then, she started living with her coach.

Hardworking and receptive Midori first commenced her figure skating career competing in World Junior Championships in which she was ranked No. 20. In spite of her position, she managed drew a large attention of people through her free skating triple loop, a triple salchow, and two triple toe loop combinations.

Giving continuity to her career, Michelle participated in several figure skating tournaments. In that respect, she won numerous numbers of titles including the first world title in the sport for an Asian competitor, the first national championship, and the first woman to land seven triples in a free skating.

After a long journey of her career, Midori is now retired from her profession. Lastly, she made an appearance at the ISU Adult Figure Skating Championship where she won the title with a twelve point margin over the second place.

Moving towards her personal life, she got married to Masaru Yamaki. However, their relationship did not last for a long period and the couple divorced after 2 years of marriage.

As a renowned skater, she has earned a good amount of salary, which adds up to her net worth. Her net worth is not disclosed yet but it's estimated to be in millions.
