Mike was born as Michael Dennis Duffy in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada on the laps of Wilfrid F. Duffy and Lillian Bernadette Duffy. He is also known for being the grandson of C. Gavan Duffy. He is Canadian and is of white ethnicity.

1962

Became a ham radio operator

When Mike was in his high school, he dropped out from there and then he joined St. Dunstan’s College with a majored in humanities. When he was 16, he took the job of a ham radio operator. 

1969

Joined CFCF

In the mid 1960s, he joined CFCY-TV and began working as a teen disc jockey. He also worked at The Guardian as a print journalist for several years. In 1969, he joined CFCF and began serving them as a lineup and assignment editor.

1977

Became a reporter for The National

After spending two years at CFCF, he joined CFRA radio. There he worked as a political reporter for about three years and then he joined CBC radio's Parliament Hill bureau. He was offered the post of reporter in The National in 1977. 

1988

Joined Baton Broadcasting

Finally in 1988, he was hired by the Baton Broadcasting as the host of the news program, Sunday Edition. He ran this show till 1999 and then he began working as a show host and interviewer at CTV Newsnet.

Divorced with Nancy Duffy

Mike was once married to Nancy Duffy. As a married couple, they also had two children together and they named them Gavin and Miranda. However, after being married for several years they announced their separation in 1979 and they also got divorced the same year.
