In 2003, Husain got married to Meekal Hashmi. Her husband Meekal Hashm is a talented guy but his actual profession is unknown. Within a year after being married to each other they welcomed their first son. She also gave birth to twins in 2006.
Though Husain was born in England, she spends most of her childhood days in United Arab Emirates. There she joined a British School in Abu Dhabi. She also lived in Saudi Arabia for several months. Then at the age of 12, she moved back to the United Kingdom and then she joined Cobham Hall. She also completed her secondary education from there. She also got enrolled at New Hall and European University Institute. When she as just 18, she worked for English-language newspaper The News as a city reporter in Islamabad. She began her professional career from Bloomberg Television in 1996 as a producer and presenter. In 1998, she joined BBC where she worked as a junior producer in the newsroom. At the end of 2002, she earned the post of Washington correspondent. She has once been honored with British Muslim Awards.
