Early Life and Education of Mitali Mukherjee

Mitali Mukherjee was born in Mymensingh District, Bangladesh. Her father's name is Amulya Kumar Mukherjee and her mother's name is Kalyani Mukherjee.

Mitali's involvement in music started early in her life. Her parents were familiar with classical sangeet so they groomed her from a young age. She also took formal training in classical music from Pt. Mithun Dey.

She has two siblings, Pradip Mukherjee, and Deepak Mukherjee. Unfortunately, Deepak Mukherjee died in 1988.

Education

Mukherjee completed her bachelor's study from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She got a scholarship from the Indian government to study at the University. Her major was music.

Mitali Mukherjee's Career

The classical music-artist released her first album, Saahil, in 1985 with UK based music and film retailer, HMV. She then proceeded to collaborate with renowned lyricist Gulzar for her album Chand Parosa Hai. 

In 1982, Mukherjee won the National Film Award of Bangladesh for her super hit song Ei Dunia Ekhon To Ar for the movie Dui Poishar Alta. She continued to release many successful albums after Chand Parosa Hai.

Some of her hit albums include Chandani Raat, Gulmohar, Ghazal Ke Phool, Aarzoo. Mitali has also sung in many languages like Punjabi, Gujarati, and Tamil.

The National Award winning-singer has also served as a judge in the famous Indian singing show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Bangaladeshi singing show, Shera Kontho.

In 2015, the Bangladeshi government also awarded Gaan-e Gaan-e Gunijon Shongbordhona award to Mukherjee.
