Well, as of 2017, Montell is still involved with Victory World Church. The most astonishing thing about Montell is that in 2010, he was planning to make a comeback in the music industry, but he canceled the plan later.
It doesn't end there. In 2012, a rumor about his death became viral on the Internet, but later it was proved to be a hoax. Also, in an interview, Montell told that he was pressured by a music company to not leak information about his married life.

The incident took place back in the early '90s when Montell was becoming more popular as a musician while his wife Kristin worked as his manager. At that time, Montell was told by a recording company to keep his married life a secret for the industry's benefit.
Montell even told:
We were told that no one’s gonna want a tall, handsome, unavailable R&B singer and that no one’s gonna respect ‘Montell’s wife. She was gonna stay ‘Kristen Hudson, my manager’ and I was gonna say I’m ‘married to my music,’ as opposed to being married to my wife
This eventually made the relationship between the couple go cold and forced Montell not just to take a short break from his career but also to finally disobey the order he had received from company executives. Here is the video of Montell describing it all.
