Morgan dreamed to be an actress since she was a child. During her early teens, she appeared in the show WFAA-TV's Mr. Peppermint Show. She also appeared in WFAA-TV's Sump'n Else bandstand show. She made her professional acting debut in 1967. That year, she appeared in the movie Bonnie and Clyde where she played the minor role of Faye Dunaway's double. In 1973, she appeared in the TV series Search for Tomorrow. Her breakthrough role came in 1980 after she began starring the role of Constance Weldon Semple Carlyle in the TV series, Flamingo Road.
