Naomi Watts paid tribute to her former boyfriend and the Oscar-winning actor Heath Ledger, on his 10th death anniversary.

Naomi, 49, penned an emotional message,

Thinking about this beautiful soul today. 10 years ago he left this world. He was a true original. Heart always on his sleeve, with the most powerful charisma, strength, humor and talent. I will never forget his gentle spirit.

on her Instagram on Monday.

The Impossible actress dated Heath for two years from 2002-4, and after the split Heath dated Michelle Williams, with whom he welcomed his first child, daughter Matilda Ledger in October 2005. Heath and Michelle split in September 2007.
