Nathan MacKinnon is a Canadian ice hockey player and currently the alternate captain of Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey Team. He was born on September 1, 1991, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to Graham MacKinnon and Kathy Mackinnon.

2011

Played in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Nathan started playing as an ice hockey player from an early age of 11, however, he officially started his career in 2011, playing in Quebek Major Junior Hockey League. HIs performance in the game was highly appreciated and he was ranked as one of the best player available.

July 9 , 2013

Signed Contract with NHL

Having already played as in several school level matches and leagues, Nathan officially started his career as a professional player in 2013 where he signed a three years contract with NHL and played in the 2013-2014 season as the youngest player of the team.

2011

Began his International Career

Nathan began his international career in 2011, where he played in 2011 World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Despite being the Second-youngest player of the tournament, he scored five goals and eight points in only five games.   

2015

Won 2015 World Championships

In 2015, Canada won the gold medal for the first time since 2007 in 2015 World Championships with a perfect 10-0 record. In the match, Nathan finished the Tournament with 4 goals and 5 assists and was highly appreciated for his performance.  

2013

Won Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy

As the Ice hockey player, Nathan is the recipient of several awards and honors. In 2013, he was awarded, Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy along with various other awards like Ed Chynoweth Trophy and Memorial Cup for his performance.

Nathan started playing ice hockey at an early age of 11, where he played in the minor ice hockey system of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. Following this, he played in several school level tournament, however, it was only after his performance in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he gained recognization and was ranked as the best available player by QMJHL Central Scouting. Following his recognization, Nathan began his professional career in 2013 and signed a three years contract with NHL. He made his international debut playing in the 2011 World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Winnipeg, Manitoba as the second youngest player of the team.

Regarding his nationality and ethnicity, he is a white-Canadian player and is unmarried at the age of 21. However, the player is currently in a relationship with Venessa Morgan, an American actress. Moving on to the economic aspect of the player, his salary has distinctively increased in recent days reaching the annual salary of $5000000 as in 2017. He has recently signed a seven years contract with NHL, that is about to pay him $6850000 by the end of 2022.
