Olivie Newton-john is a singer, actress, and songwriter. She has won four Grammy Awards till now and has been successful to battle fatal breast cancer.
Olivia was born in Cambridge, England, on September 26, 1948, and is amongst the youngest of three children of Brinley Newton-John and Irene Helene. She is English in terms of her nationality, and her ethnicity is white. Her family relocated to Australia in 1954.
She attended Christ Church Grammar School, from where she won her first musical contest in her school when she was just 12 years old, and later graduated from University High School.
Newton was 17 years of age when she made her film debut in Funny Things Happen Down Under, a 1965 film where she also sang the song Christmas Time Down Under. Soon enough, she won another musical talent contest, which let her travel back to England. In England, she signed her first record deal with Decca Records. With Decca Records, she released her first single titled Till You Say You'll Be Mine.
Later, she released a cover of Sara Dylan's ex-husband, Bob Dylan's song If Not For You, which gained her immense recognition and ultimately released her first-ever solo album with the same name in 1971. The album first hit song was Let Me Be There which made it to the Top 100 on the US pop chart and also earned her first Grammy in the category of Best Country Female.
Her other musical hits include Have You Never Been Mellow, If You Love Me Let Me Know, Please Mr. Please, and many others. Her record I Honestly Love You has also won a Grammy for record of the year, in 1974. Olivia has sold more than 100 million copies.
Apart from singing, she is also known for acting roles in Grease, a hit film from 1978 where she appeared opposite John Travolta. She has also acted in other films like Xanadu (1980).
Talking about her personal life, Olivia has been a resident of California for many years. She has been married twice. She was married to her first husband Matt Lattanzi in 1986 and also shares a daughter named Chloe Rose with him. The couple later went through a divorce in April 1995.
Later, she got dated boyfriend Patrick McDermott, who mysteriously disappeared in June 2005. Rumors have it that he may be alive and is in Mexico. She was then married to John Easterling on June 21, 2008, at Cuzco, Peru.
Apart from these, as we have already mentioned above, Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. Although she battled the disease with the aid of chemotherapy and partial mastectomy, there has been news that the disease resurfaced in May 2017. No updates on her health at present have been revealed.
