One Dead and Three Injured in a Hate Crime in Poway, California

One person is dead and three are injured, in a shootout that occurred in Poway, California on Saturday 27th April 2019 which police believe to be a hate crime.

Police officials responded to the Jewish synagogue on Saturday morning for reports of a male with a gun.

Steve Vaus, Mayor of Poway informed CNN the shooting to be a hate crime according to statements by the shooter made at the crime scene.

In a press conference, police officials informed that an adult woman was killed, and the rabbi from the synagogue was injured.

The three injured victims include two adults and a juvenile who has been rushed to the local hospital for medical attention.

The police also informed that the suspect has been identified to be John Earnest.

John Earnest allegedly used an AR-style rifle to carry out the attack.

Police said that the motive behind the shooting is still unclear.

They are currently investigating an "open letter" and social-media posts that the shooter left behind before carrying out the crime.

Sheriff William Gore said,

We have copies of his social media posts and his open letter and will be reviewing those to determine the legitimacy of it and exactly how it plays into the investigation, 

The police have evidence that an anti-Sematic manifesto circulated in the social media under the name John T. Earnest.
