He appeared in the film alongside Aldo Valletti, Elsa De Giorgi and Caterina Boratto. The movie proved to be a breakthrough for him, earning him both fame and fortune.
Two years later, he played the role of Antonio Gramsci: The Days of Prison. Later in 1978, he appeared in the commercially successful film Midnight Express.
