Harty Condolence! Peggy Lipton, the former Twin Peaks star and the mother of actresses Rashida Jones and Kidada Jones, has died. She was 72.

Her death was confirmed by her children. As for the cause of death, the family said in a statement to USA Today that Peggy, who shares those two daughters with her ex-husband Quincy Jones, died of cancer.

The former couple was married from 1974 to 1990.

Rashida, 43, and Kidada, 45, told the outlet on Saturday, May 11,

We are heartbroken that our beloved mother passed away from cancer today. She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.

They have also asked for privacy in the time of grief of the family.

The statement continues,

We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now but we will say: Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us.

Born on August 30, 1946, in New York City, Peggy began her modeling when she was 15 and at the age of 19, she made her television debut with an NBC sitcom, The John Forsythe Show.

She later appeared on hit television series such as Bewitched, The Virginian and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. She was widely known as flower child Julie Barnes in ABC drama series The Mod Squad.

Rest In Peace Peggy Lipton!
