Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Names Their Royal Baby

Mahammad Arsad shekh Thu May, 2019

Just a couple of days ago Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child, a baby boy, and the royal couple has chosen a name for the newborn royal baby.

They have named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The couple took to Instagram on Wednesday, May 8, to reveal the name of the latest addition of the family.

The statement read,

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and the duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry introduced their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to the world on Wednesday — but unlike his famous cousins, the baby has no royal title. While the newborn was eligible to become the Earl of Dumbarton, it seems Harry and Meghan want their son to have as normal of a life as possible. Technically, Archie would be eligible to become a prince as a grandson of the Sovereign when Charles becomes king. But that’s ways into the future. And depending on when Charles becomes king, he may change the Letters Patent or Archie’s parents may say, ‘We want our child to stay the same.’ It’s definitely possible he can become HRH [His Royal Highness] when Charles becomes king. However, it is very likely Harry and Markle wanted their son to have a sense of freedom and independence that does not come with carrying a royal title.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed in October 2018 that she and her husband had picked several names after their first royal tour together.

During an informal Q&A in Melbourne, Australia, the Suits alum, 37, told a group of students at the time,

We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone. We’re going to sit down and have a look at them.

The new bundle of joy, who was born on 6 May, joins Prince William and Kate Middleton's three kids, Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte and Prince Louis who they welcomed in April 2018.

Harry and Markle married at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
