Raf Simons was born on January 12, 1968 in Neerpelt, Belgium. His father Jacques Simons was an army night watchman and her mother Alda Beckers was a house cleaner at the time of his birth. He was the only child of his parents.

1991

Graduated in Industrial Design and Furniture Design

He earned graduation degree from college in Genk and that was in year 1991. He did graduation in Industrial Design and Furniture Design. While he was doing his graduation he interned at the design studio of Walter Van Beirendonck. 

1995

Launched his Raf Simons Label

He launched his Raf Simons Label in 1995. To do so he was encouraged by Linda Loppa who was head of the fashion department at the Antwerp Royal Academy at that time. After that he became self-trained menswear designer.

2000

Broke up with Veronique Branquinho

He is not married yet. Once, he had love affair with Veronique Branquinho. They both used to live together. She is also one of the talented designers. But unfortunately, the couple called off their relationship in 2000. 

2000

Appointed in University of Applied Arts Vienna

He was appointed as a professor of the fashion department at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria in October 2000. He taught fashion at the University. He held in that position for five years. He left University in June 2005.

2012

Creative director at Christian Dior

In April 2012, he was announced as the new creative director at Christian Dior. He replaced John Galliano in Christian Dior who had been fired the previous year. He continued his menswear line same as before after joining Dior. 

October 22 , 2015

Resigned from Christian Dior

After working more than three years in Christian Dior, he resigned from his post as the Creative Director of Women swears for Christian Dior. He wanted to focus on other interest of his life included his brand. 

2003

Won Swiss Textiles Award

He won Swiss Textiles Award and that was the year in 2003. In that award, he received material benefits at the value of €100,000. He was the deserving candidate for that award. It was such a proud moment for him.
