He graduated from DePaul University with a degree in economics. Afterwards, in 1962, he attended University of California, Los Angeles from 1962 to 1965. He studied in the Department of Cinematography. While he was there he met Jim Morrison and his future wife.

1966

Door became house band

Manzarek and his mate Jim Morrison cofounded the Doors and in January 1966, the Door became the house band at the London Fog which was nightclub of 1960s on the Sunset Strip. The Doors' first recording contract was with Columbia Records

1977

Co-founder of Nite City

Nite City was a rock group from Los Angeles, USA. Ray was one of the cofounder of that group.  The group recorded and released two albums in 1977 and 1978 on the 20th Century Record label entitled "Nite City" and "Golden Days Diamond Nights ".

2001

Formed the Band, Manzarek–Krieger

In 2001, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger formed rock band. They were also known as The Doors of the 21st Century, D21C, and Riders on the Storm.  He was the active member of that band until his death that was in year 2013.

1974

Released his first solo album

He released his first solo album and that was in year 1964. The name of album was “The Golden Scarab".  He released that album from Doors. "The Whole Thing Started with Rock and Roll Now It's Out of Control", Carmina Burana and many more were his popular solo albums.
