Biography: Early Life and Education
Robert was born on November 26, 1933, in Lawerence, Massachusetts, U.S. He was born to his father Joseph Georges Andre Goulet, a wrestler and singer, and his mother Jeanette Goulet. As for his sibling, he had a sister Claire.

When Goulet was 13, his father died and he with his mother and sister migrated to Girouxville, Alberta, Canada. He lived in Canada for several years and during this time, the family moved to the capital of Edmonton, where he studied singing.

The American actor made a theatrical appearance in Summer stock theatre when he moved to the U.S. He played in other theatrical performances at the same time such as Bells Are Ringing (1959), Pajama Game (1959), Dream Girl (1959), Meet Me in St. Louis (1960), and many more.
In 1959, Robert played Lancelot in the stage production Camelot and the show was played in different places. He gained fame with his ballad If Ever I Would Leave You and it remains his signature song even today.
He continued to release songs and theatrical performances and won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1962. He got into a controversy when he changed the lyrics of the national anthem of the United States in 1965. Robert's popular hits like My Love, Forgive Me, ranked sixteenth on the Billboard Hot 100.

Robert married Louise Longmore in 1956. The couple had a daughter Nicolette and the family lived happily until they divorced in March 1963.
Following that, he married actress and singer Carol Lawrence on August 12, 1963, and had two children with her. The first son Christopher was born in 1964 and the second one Michael born two years later. The relationship between them did not last long and the couple parted ways.
In 1982, Goulet married writer Vera Novak, a Macedonian descendent, in Las Vegas. He lived his last days in Los Angeles, California, until he died on October 30, 2007.
